At Silver Spur Seasoning, every bottle tells a story—not just of recipes, but of family, perseverance, and generations spent around the dinner table.

Long before Silver Spur existed, my dad built a small catering business from the ground up. At just 18 years old, armed with little more than a trailer, a passion for cooking, and a willingness to work harder than anyone else, he began serving food at rodeos, fairs, and community events. Over the years, that small catering business grew into successful restaurants that became a huge part of our family’s life.

But the story of seasoning didn’t begin because someone wanted to sell spices. It began because of me.

As a little girl, I had a severe allergy to MSG. If I ate it, I would develop fevers as high as 104 degrees, spend days on the couch unable to speak, and become incredibly sick. At the time, many commercial seasonings contained MSG, which meant I couldn’t safely enjoy the food my own dad served in his restaurants.

So he changed that.

Instead of relying on commercial blends, my dad began creating his own seasonings from scratch so I could enjoy the same meals everyone else was eating. What started as a father’s determination to care for his daughter became the seasonings used throughout his restaurants and catering business.

Without realizing it, those recipes shaped my childhood. I grew up in catering trailers and restaurant kitchens. As soon as I was old enough, I was helping prepare food, season meat, serve customers, and learn what made great food memorable. Cooking wasn’t something I occasionally did—it was simply how I was raised.

As the years went on, my dad hoped I would someday carry on the seasoning side of the business. While we shared the same love for great food, I also discovered something else: I loved creating recipes of my own.

That passion eventually became Silver Spur. With my dad’s encouragement and support, I began developing seasoning blends inspired by everything I had learned growing up. Silver Spur became the next chapter of our family’s story—a way to carry on the values of hard work, great food, and bringing people together around the table.

Today, Silver Spur is truly a family business. While I stay home raising our children and caring for my nieces and nephews, I continue to lead the creative side of the business—developing new recipes, managing our website, overseeing product design, coordinating inventory and ordering, and keeping everything behind the scenes running smoothly. My husband, my sister, my brother-in-law, and my mother-in-law work together to fill every bottle, carefully package every order, help every customer, and ensure every product that leaves our warehouse is something we're proud to put our name on.

We still believe the best meals begin with real ingredients, thoughtful recipes, and food that brings people together around the table. Our seasonings are inspired by generations of cooking and a family tradition that continues today.
